Note On Using LEP
Laser Driver Design Considerations

The design of the laser light source drive circuit is critical to the operating stability of the laser. Abnormal conditions such as overcurrent and overvoltage may cause damage to the laser.

Laser Source Drive Circuit Design

The circuit for driving the laser source needs to be designed separately. A constant current chip must be selected to provide a constant output current. When the driver board is connected to the laser and powered on, the output current spike at power-up shall not exceed the maximum current specified in the light source datasheet. An oscilloscope can be used to capture the waveform and detect the peak output current at the instant of power-on.

Operating Current & Operating Voltage
When using a self-made driver board and power supply box to activate the laser, there must be no instantaneous current surge. The current and voltage shall not exceed the laser’s rated values. Avoid poor contact or wire breakage during commissioning; otherwise, the laser may be damaged.
The rated voltage and current of the laser light source shall refer to the datasheet of the selected laser.

Connection Recommendation for LEP and Driver
Soldering is recommended for connecting the LEP to its driver; simple terminal connectors are not advised. Poor contact at the terminals carries a significant risk of laser burnout.

Thermal Design Considerations

The laser light source generates heat during operation. The heat must be dissipated into the air via a heat sink; otherwise, the light source will burn out directly.

Although it is equipped with a copper heat base, the base only conducts heat away and cannot dissipate heat by itself. Therefore, a heat dissipation device must be mounted on the copper heat base.
The temperature of the laser backplate shall be controlled below the upper limit of 60~70°C. Refer to the datasheet of each product for details.

The laser light source must be used with a heat sink during application!
(Heat sink connection is also required for testing.)
